Lots of debate on the internet as to whether Cal Raleigh should’ve edged out Aaron Judge for AL MVP because in addition to his offensive prowess he also was outstanding playing the demanding position of catcher where he didn’t have one passed ball all season long.
If I had my druthers I would’ve loved to have seen Judge and Raleigh be co-MVPs as both were deserving the award. And that leads me to the question – What players were co-MVPs in 1979, the only time in MLB history where two players shared the regular season MVP?
Dave Parker and Gary Carter
Willie Stargell and Keith Hernandez
Steve Garvey and George Foster
Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton
And the answer is:
Willie Stargell and Keith Hernandez
Here’s the story which includes a fun Jerry Seinfeld reference.
